The invention of nylon in the early 30's, and its introduction in 1938, was truly a major breakthrough in polymer chemistry. No resin has yet been introduced that can begin to match the unique combination of properties that have made nylon the most versatile and broadly applied plastic material. Nylon is used as an injection molding resin for a wide variety of engeneered parts in every industry. It's use continues to grow as a result of continued research and market development.

Eldon James' Nylon choice, is one of the three oldest and most important of the nylon resins. It is a lubricated version, of a 6/6 nylon made by the polymerization of hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid, each containing six carbon atoms. The 6/6 formulations have the highest melting point and dry-as-molded strength and stiffness of the melt processible nylon homopolymers. They combine strength, moderate stiffness, high service temperature, and toughness. The formulations are particularly resistant to repeated impact, have low coefficients of friction and have an excellent resistance to abrasion. They resist fuels, lubricants and many chemicals, but are attacked by phenols, strong acids and oxidizing agents. Acceptable sterilization methods include Ethylene Oxide or Autoclave, see sterilization chart for details.

Eldon James offers Natural Nylon fittings with lot traceability certificates. Most of our Natural Nylon Fittings are certified to NSF/ANSI Standards 51 & 61. Standard 61 is a certification for use with potable water and Standard 51 is a certification for food and beverage use.

BLACK NYLON: Temp. Range  Low –50°F       High 275°F
                                    Pressure 150psi @70°

Automotive Approvals

Black Nylon fittings are widely used for automotive and marine applications as well as general fluid handling. Black Nylon fittings are made from the same material formulation as Natural Nylon (see above) with the addition of a black colorant. Black Nylon fittings are manufactured for general applications which do not require NSF certification or material lot traceability certificates; they are, therefore, less expensive than Natural Nylon fittings.

EJ Black Nylon Fittings Features
Anti-rotation device reduces wear caused by hose rotation on barb
• Single barb design provides greater stability with both single and dual inside   diameter hose
• Optimum connector insertion depth is regulated by bulkhead placement

Glass-Filled Black Nylon fittings are widely used for automotive and marine applications due to their enhanced strength and impact resistance. Optimum performance is achieved by the inclusion of uniformly dispersed glass fibers throughout the fitting which are bonded to the nylon through the use of coupling agents. This process was designed to assure retention of the nylon's physical properties under a wide variety of environmental conditions.

EJ Glass Filled Black Nylon Fittings Features
• Heat resistant to temperatures of 275°F
Anti-rotation device reduces wear caused by hose rotation on barb
• Single barb design provides greater stability with both single and dual inside   diameter hose
• Optimum connector insertion depth is regulated by bulkhead placement
• Glass reinforcement increases impact resistance

White Nylon fittings exhibit the same physical and chemical resistance properties as Natural Nylon. These fittings contain a percentage of recycled material sourced from our Natural Nylon, virgin material production runs. A white colorant is added to differentiate our White Nylon fittings from Natural Nylon fittings. If your application does not require lot traceability or NSF certification, these fittings represent an excellent value. White Nylon fittings are manufactured to the same tolerances and high quality standards as all EJ fittings.
